An Independent Affiliate of the Jump$tart Coalition
New Mexico Jump$tart is an independent affiliate of the national Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. The national Jump$tart Coalition is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1995, the coalition includes national partners and a network of state affiliates that share a commitment to its logo and tagline “Financial Smarts for Students.”
About Us
The New Mexico Jump$tart Coalition is comprised of organizations, government agencies, financial institutions and corporations. Working together we are able to join forces to improve the personal financial literacy of New Mexico’s youth and young adults.

If your organization or you as an individual are actively engaged in promoting personal financial literacy among youth and young adults, we invite you to become a member.
Support the Coalition!
The Jump$tart Coalition is a charitable 501(c)3, nonprofit organization. As such, in-kind donations such as the printing of promotional materials or hosting of meetings and events are greatly appreciated. The Coalition also welcomes monetary contributions.
Make a difference locally!
Here are a few ways that organizations and individuals can make a positive impact at the local level:
- Check Your School- Let your school know that you support effective financial education! https://checkyourschool.org/
- Educators- Incorporate personal finance within your curriculum. Personal finance has been taught successfully to students of all ages and within many core and elective subjects. - Parents- Begin teaching your child about personal finance at a young age and continue to reinforce these skills. See the Links section or visit the Clearinghouse for more ideas on teaching your child about personal finance matters.
- Financial Institutions- Volunteer to work with a local school or district to provide classroom presentations or teacher support.
- Policy Makers- Consider ways to incorporate personal finance education into your school’s curriculum and teacher professional development programs.

Membership
The Jump$tart New Mexico Coalition for Personal Literacy is a non-profit organization that seeks to educate and empower youth and young adults with the information and resources necessary to make informed financial decisions. We are a coalition, compromised of individuals, non profit and governmental agencies, and the corporate sector, who have joined together to improve financial literacy for New Mexicans.
The Jump$tart New Mexico Coalition’s Goals and Objectives are as follows:
- Raise awareness for the need and importance of personal financial literacy.
- Grow support for the coalition by promoting membership, communication and cooperation among coalition members and the community.
- Increase personal financial education in schools, homes and in community organizations.
- Promote business, government and community involvement in the activities and programs of the New Mexico coalition.
- Create a statewide clearinghouse for financial literacy educational resources.
- Secure adequate funding to achieve goals.
